Radiofrequency+microneedling or fractional radiofrequency is a non-invasive skin improving technique and a form of skin improvement. With this treatment, we damage the surface of the skin less than with regular microneedling.
Radiofrequency heat
The tips of the needles emit radiofrequency heat. This heat penetrates deep into the dermis and this causes the skin to contract somewhat, causing tightening. In addition, we “ask” the skin to become more active. The fibroblasts go to work producing more collagen and elastin. The fibroblasts also produce more hyaluronic acid. With the production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, the skin becomes smoother, tighter and more hydrated. In addition, the color and condition of the skin is improved.
Difference from a regular microneedling treatment
With the common microneedling treatment, we improve the skin by creating “damage” on the surface of the skin, the epidermis. This damage activates the natural repair and wound healing process of the epidermis. With the RF+microneedling treatment, the needles work by stamping instead of scratching. As a result, there is very little damage to the epidermis and more damage in the dermis, where the stimulus is supposed to be.
